Parallel & Proverbs
A weekly literary miscellany

What to expect

  1. One essay per week, full body inside the email — no clicks needed.
  2. The native-script proverb at the top, treated as the visual centerpiece.
  3. A short editor’s note: why this proverb, why this week.
  4. One “from the archive” link at the bottom.
  5. One unsubscribe link at the bottom. That’s it.

Why email, and why weekly

A proverb rewards being sat with, not scrolled past. One a week is a pace you can actually keep — enough to build the habit of looking at a familiar idea through an unfamiliar language, without the backlog guilt that kills most subscriptions. The whole essay arrives in the email itself, so there is nothing to click unless you want to follow a cousin into the archive.

We use double opt-in, which means you’ll get one confirmation email before anything else — a single click to prove the address is really yours. We never sell or share the list, we send nothing but the Sunday essay and the short welcome sequence, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. If the newsletter ever stops earning its place in your inbox, leaving takes a second and we won’t email you again.
